The International Journal of Software Engineering (IJSE) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to the publication of original and significant research in software engineering. The journal addresses the principles, methods, techniques, tools, and technologies involved in the specification, design, development, implementation, validation, documentation, maintenance, evolution, and reengineering of software systems. The journal places particular emphasis on research addressing complex and long-lived software systems, with attention to reliability, scalability, reproducibility, extensibility, maintainability, and practical relevance. It welcomes theoretical contributions, methodological advances, empirical investigations, and research-informed studies that advance software engineering knowledge and address significant challenges in software development and evolution.

The journal aims to advance the theory and practice of software engineering through the dissemination of rigorous research, innovative methods, and validated techniques for the systematic development and maintenance of software systems. The scope includes, but is not limited to:

The journal welcomes research articles, systematic reviews, empirical studies, methodological contributions, and technically grounded experience reports that provide transferable insights or identify significant challenges for future software engineering research. Submissions should demonstrate methodological rigour, sufficient detail to support evaluation and reproducibility, and clear relevance to software engineering theory or practice.

Types of Contribution:
Research Articles: Original research contributions presenting significant findings, methods, models, algorithms, systems, applications or theoretical developments in computer science, information technology and related areas.

Short Communications: Concise reports presenting significant preliminary findings, new techniques, computational approaches, experimental results, applications or other developments of immediate interest to the field.

Review Articles: Comprehensive and critical reviews of significant developments, methods, technologies, research trends and emerging areas within the scope of the journal.

Publication Frequency: Two issues per year.
